Pod-of-Tenderness-blessingThe beautiful ‘Pod of Tenderness’ just arrived from Fabienne Rey in The Netherlands
pod-of-tenderness-button-tassel-and-clothher ceramic fish button and Tarla’s indigo tassel started a quiet conversation
pod-of-tenderness-with-button-and-tasseland hopped inside the pod of tenderness to talk of deeper things
the scent of the pod is so peaceful and healing, thank you Fabienne !
“to be filled with words that can’t be said, or emotions that cannot be put into words, to be filled with gratitude, healing energy, compassion, and thanks to the world, respect and reciprocity. To be the keepers of what is dear to us, and feeds our souls. Those little pods are tiny, fit in my hand gently, and their touch already soothe any bruised heart.”
these beautiful words are by Fabienne you can see more of her magic here

Fabienne’s work is even more beautiful in real life, holding the pod in my hands is a healing experience full of such deep heart and soul. She made this to honour the things that come out of the blue, she asked if there were any thoughts I would like placed in the pod so I wrote back on March 6th
“for blue inspiration, these are two of my favourite blue songs
“Tangled up in Blue” by Bob Dylan
      “Turbulent Indigo” by Joni Mitchell
I have a long relationship with Blue
here’s a link with a few pics of my 7 Blue Triangles from 1989 (scroll down a bit)
but the deepest blue thought is for my beautiful friend Carol, she would have turned 53 today but we will never get to sing Happy Birthday to each other over the phone ever again…
I made this one for her so she could smell the myrrh beads but it arrived the day after she died so now it holds all the letters of condolence that everyone sent to her partner Eric
& for this Pod of Tenderness for the Blues these words say it best….
“ We treat desire as a problem to be solved, address what desire is for and focus on that something and how to acquire it rather than on the nature and the sensation of desire, though often it is the distance between us and the object of desire that fills the space in between with the blue of longing. I wonder sometimes whether with a slight adjustment of perspective it could be cherished as a sensation on its own terms, since it is as inherent to the human condition as blue is to distance? If you can look across the distance without wanting to close it up, if you can own your longing in the same way that you own the beauty of that blue that can never be possessed? For something of this longing will, like the blue of distance, only be relocated, not assuaged, by acquisition and arrival, just as the mountains cease to be blue when you arrive among them and the blue instead tints the next beyond. Somewhere in this is the mystery of why tragedies are more beautiful than comedies and why we take a huge pleasure in the sadness of certain songs and stories. Something is always far away. The far seeps in even to the nearest. After all we hardly know our own depths.”

she completed it with the energy of the March Full Moon, it is more than I longed for…

  2. Fabienne’s work gave me an idea . . . a precious gift for you and for me as well. Perhaps of something similar but different to make from my old quilt. I shall draw it in my ideas notebook with a reference.
