“Let our eggs share the same nest”
This quote from ‘Stranger in a Strange Land’ by Robert A. Heinlein came to mind early on Monday morning when we were invited to make some wild magic with the artist, witch and animist Gab Bates
Gab transformed us into ‘Urban Unknowns’ with her wonderful sense of play and sensitivity to the spirits of place
shapeshifting our shared reality, becoming fugitives finding sanctuary
in becoming other we fall into each other
Gab is making sanctuary for ‘all things awkward, forgotten and unloved’ with her wide open heart, curious mind and deep respect to the spirits of place
You can see more of Gab’s transformative art on her website
and her  instagram page

‘Let us make sanctuary’ is a concept explored by the deep thinker Bayo Akomolafe

Truly wild and disturbing. So cool you got to be a part. I’m reading a book called “Sanctuary” now. Author Manuel says, “True home is not an object to acquire or an item to check off a to-do list. Nor is it a marker of enlightenment. Our true home is in the moment.”

(((Dee))) Gab is exploring connections by making openings into the forgotten spaces, helping us remember & honour the deep magic of our beautiful broken world

I can barely imagine how exciting and fun this day was for you .. and to see the results unimaginable!

    • Mo Crow says:

(((Tina))) Gab is so easy to work with, all she asked was to come along with no expectations and a sense of adventure to allow whatever wants to happen… Happen, she makes such potent magic!

Very weird! How energizing and exciting to take this flight into fantasy and encourage the subconscious to emerge into the light of day. The face paint and all the miniature ghost heads do nothing to obscure the tenderness between you and Rod in every picture.

Hi MC – quite a wild and challenging transformation. B

  5. Nancy says:

Wow! I can feel you falling into one another, becoming two as one. Sensory me would be so uncomfortable to be painted. I admire your sense of letting go here.

  6. Wonderful deep transformative magic Mo – absolutely LOVE this!

  7. Acey says:

I love this kind of thing ….

  8. Beth says:

Wow, wow. WOW. And then down the rabbit hole to look at her other work. I remember when you took part in the sleepwalkers too.
