stitching the spiral for dark side of the moon went seriously wobbly, it needs to stretch snugly & evenly over the curve of the papier maché mold, will see what happens if I increase evenly every 7 stitches… love the wild fray in the undoing but not for Once in a Blue Moon
coming all undone

I’m sorry you have to go through it all again,Mo.But I really do love this “undone” image.
(((Di))) one of the good things about stitching is being able to just cut out the stitches out and start again!
I love the loose tangle also, but I know that isn’t what you need. Good luck on the next go-round.
(((Dana))) the next time it starts wriggling into a ridge I will allow some of the fray to be tied in and if it doesn’t work I will make a new mold and start again!
Oh I love it. It’s the sort of dishevelment that would be impossible to arrange but just not needed now.
(((Wendy))) it happened on Moon Unit II when the stitching for the base went awry but didn’t get a photo that time, I do love the fray and am seriously considering how to work it into this piece!
Who knows how things might be falling apart of the dark side of the moon . . . it would certainly be unexpected.
(((Wendy))) so true, this blue moon journey is teaching me so much about the unexpected & letting that in & also how I do have very high hopes & expectations for this piece so it doesn’t matter how long it takes to make it work
It has a beauty of its own. Always great to see the work process- all the time spent on the working things out- wouldn’t it be great to get paid for that time too. I know it is all part of the piece but most people don’t realise the huge amount of thought and trial time.
(((Louise))) I price the work to cover the time taken in the making, cost of materials and integrity of soul, this one will be very expensive but it may well be the best piece I have ever made in this lifetime and I wouldn’t let it go for less!
The moon wobbles in her orbit … only rarely does everything align
(((Liz))) beautiful words well said, I really want to try to incorporate the fray in some way!
i hope you do. i really hope you do.
it’s too good not to (((Grace))) & oh phew! the spiral is working so much better by increasing the edge every 7th stitch, working more mindfully rather than just hoping it will work out … but then I wouldn’t have all the lovely fray to play with!
oh no! what a metaphor for life- are you stitching through the mold?
(((Susan))) I will be anchoring the spiral with x’s stitched through the papier maché mold. I am loving the look of the fray & will try to incorporate it but once I do that there is no turning back it will either work or it won’t & what the heck, I can always make another mold & start again!
Love the undone look, frustrating sometimes when you have a plan but not always easy to execute.
The centre circle looks great.
(((Debbie))) sometimes the dream starts breaking up as it get closer to becoming a real thing I can hold in my hands, pushing it past that point can make the best work but sometimes it’s a disaster, it’s on the cusp at the moment
Oh my goodness – that’s a lot of work to begin again; but you know it will be worth it. Like you I think this look is rather gorgeous, but clearly not what is needed just now! Hold it for another time…
(((Fiona))) there is more of these papier maché vessels in the pipeline for sure, I love the form of the old iron wok!
It is a great image! You have more patience than I can imagine.
(((Hazel))) chasing dreams
Wild!!
(((Nancy))) it’s settling back down into the fine spiral but taking forever, you know that optical illusion on a long hike when the tree on the hill that your heading towards never seems to be getting any nearer?
