growing pains… hoping for a miracle

growing pains… hoping for a miracle
looking like a soggy old pumpkin
when things started to go awry…
just over halfway when it was looking like it would work
so what’s next?
abandon the plan
and reread Michael Leunig’s “Into the Unknown”

maybe it needs to be lightly supported with a bit of stuffing??/ don’t give up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Mo Crow says:

thanks for the encouragement Arlee, as the nice young hotel manager in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel said “Everything will be all right in the end. If it’s not all right, it is not yet the end” am thinking of an overlay of stitched down guitar strings in different gauges to give it more body sort of like filigree

  2. Having no solution, but admiring your efforts and with total confidence you will find the answer, I offer an Irish proverb “There’s no need to fear the wind if your haystacks are tied down.”

I just skipped back along your lovely blog-path to review all that I had missed. Such beauty and inspiration here! Lots of things I could say in response to each post, but that might take me as many months ( haha, I first wrote “moths” which would work here, too, but…) as I’ve been away. So, some words to say – delicacy, texture, the rawness of nature, lines – inspire. Thanks!

  4. watching to see what you decide….love the anvil as anchor

    • Mo Crow says:

that anvil is very handy & I liked the loose threads but cut them all off this morning… it’s a learning curve this one, reminds me of working with gourds, they have their own ideas of how they want to go… I have to start listening to the form and let it go where it wants rather than where I was figuring!

  5. Wow (((Mo)))….what a learning curve this one is!!! ‘Listening to the form’ you say and that beautiful phrase seems the way forward, and feeling/Braille – handling – the filigree idea sounds light but strong?

  6. I would have thought stuffing it might be the answer. Old socks work well.

    • Mo Crow says:

(((Debbie))) this morning I am happily unpicking the rest of the stitches and dreaming of how to mount it flat as a flower form or perhaps as a row of urchin leaves

  7. deemallon says:

putting it away to dream for a while so honors the process. thanks for modeling that. I just wonder if the scale is too big for the small thing it represents? because each part of it is delicate, perfect, but as a combination it loses that? just wondering.

    • Mo Crow says:

(((Dee))) this journey is teaching me so much about stitching & form, the next one will be stitched over a rice bag & sticky tape mould with soluble fabric as the residue helps stiffen the threads to hold the form… listening to the materials and the urchin
