River of Moons (go with the flow) is getting there!
the lower edge is Bangalow Palm inflorescence tendrils painted bone white
it still needs refining with some white beads incorporated here and there
and the specks of dust & stray threads removed
it will be finished by August 7th to honour the 13 moons since Julie flew free
once I figure out how to make the closure
view from the back with silk velvet indigo dyed by Jacinta of Spiral Dyed
with gratitude to the indigo queens, Glennis Shibori Girl, Ulrike Bogdan and Jude Hill
Just gorgeous, Mo. I like seeing it standing and from the back.
(((Dee))) it’s turned into a book for the Full Moon, Ahroo!
Oh Mo! This is so filled with love and devotion. The phrase “labor of love” is what comes to mind. What a gorgeous honoring of your friend. xo
(((Nancy))) Julie loved stitching and was very good at it so I tried my best!
Your stitching is pure magic Mo, you are a Star…..ox
(((Margaret))) this one has taught me so much!
wow
speechless
awesome…comes to mind
xXx
(((Saskia))) it’s had its ups and downs!
MC – what a beautiful goal and an amazing piece of work to honour Julie. Every fragment of the work has memories and love impeded in it. Go well. B
(((Barry))) she was the best girlfriend in the world!
Mo this is so beautiful………………….
(((Martine))) inspired by your beautiful Blue Moon Coat !
A river, a flow but to me, a dance of hand, heart and memory and in the 2nd photo, the two stars, the straight ladder, the striated moon- how once in a lifetime comes a friendship that holds so much, each other as well as together, stitched by years and love- Julie and Mo, simply, forever…
(((Marti))) Julie was such a treasure in our lives, she had her feet well and truly on the ground with a heart as big as Phar Lap, she helped me make sense of the world with her outspoken honesty and the best sense of fun!
Gosh!❤
(((Jude))) it works!
👍
Oh ((Mo)) your river of moons is so SPECIAL !!!!!
(ahhh that cute little ladder . . . !)
(((Els))) I had tried to put the little ladder in before the stars were stitched down and it didn’t work, this one has its own ideas about timing in process!
wow…it’s wonderous!
(((Glennis))) your indigo dyed moons make such good magic!
So beautiful…Love seeing it standing, the way it curls.
(((Deb))) enjoying seeing it being able to stand on it’s own!
the passing of time we both See and FEEL it here…with an intense beauty
(((Grace))) this one is like braille, love how the silk velvet has changed the hand of the linen & surprised by the transluscency
What a precious, precious teller of time and tales this is – the velvet!!!
(((Fiona))) the silk velvet is so soft and lively !
Oh, Mo! What an honoring… a deep love filled starlit blue journey…love.
(((Hazel))) Moon Sister!
Really beautiful!
(((Heather))) for the love of the moon & a dear friend!
I think of the word “haptic” … how I learned it from you and how apt it is for this River of Moons … and the ladder is beyond perfect
my heart hurts with the realization that each stitch was a tribute to Julie and to your friendship … to love someone is to risk loss and deep sadness, but the memories you made together are the balm
(((Liz))) this one is so all about the haptic, braille for the soul played out with the blues
Bowing at your feet.
(((Arlee))) & thank you for making the fabulous mossy greens collection of silk velvets, look forward to finishing this one so I can start to play with them!
