You’re right Mo…you can feel the love they have for each other. Congratulations to them both.
Lovely, congratulations to them both! ox
after all these years….
just put up another photo from Debbie and Mike sent this update on Paul-
Paul is talking quite well.
He swallows, but there simply isn’t much there to swallow. He is allowed to swab his mouth with a little sponge on a stick that he dips in ice water. He is also allowed to brush his teeth. A little water probably does drip in every now and then.
I’m not sure if he is any skinnier than he was when he went in for surgery, but he might be. He had already lost a lot of weight, so it’s a little hard to tell now in comparison. He’s been getting food via a feeding tube for a couple of days now.
He was in good spirits tonight. I brought him his guitar and a bunch of classical sheet music. He plucked a half dozen tunes or so to rave reviews from the hospital staff.
Finally beat him at Scrabble. All it took was cancer, chemo, radiation, major surgery, hydromorphone, nothing to drink, tube feeding and a good dose of oxycodone…but I finally beat him. Nothing like bashing a man when he’s down, eh?
Mike
Ha! I don’t talk about my family much but we all inherited my dad’s great sense of black humour that gets us through the toughest times.
We sprung Paul on Friday. He’s eating a fair amount on his own, but supplementing with a tube feed. It was pretty funny to hear him arguing with the doctor on Thursday over how much tube feeding he would do. Quite adamant he would get all his nutrition by mouth. They taught him a lesson that night with a solid meal at supper. It was a little more than he could handle, so he’s being good. Still, he manged to beat me in Scrabble that night.
Ha! Paul must be feeling better, Mom said he beat her at Scrabble too!
