That is very lovely
thanks Charlotte, Susan’s work is such an inspiration, her little book Art Lessons is lovely too
This is looking amazing Mo….you are so gifted. I have to make a comment re your crow feather card. I have many of your drawings but truly, this one just blew me away. It really does look like a ‘real’ crow feather…so 3 dimensional. One has to touch it to know that it is not ‘real’. love it, love it , love it. That being said, I just lurve all of your work…..some more than others but then again we all have our favourites I am sure.
aw thanks for the good words Eliene!
It’s shocking Mo, your use of natural materials…Melaluca from the Neem tree for goodness sake!! and I am just thrilled to see it…such depth, and the way it looks ancient like a cave find…you have the ancient sensibility my dear.
thanks Michelle, making this book is a primer for the spirit and had to look up Neem Oil that’s a different plant Azadirachta indica originally from Burma. Melalueca qunquenervia is a fabulous big paperbark tree that grows on the edges of still waterways it’s essential oil is known as niaouli oil. Here’s a link to a photo Old Man Crow took of one back 1991
Looking beautiful Mo, love your sketch of the lemon scented gum leaves. Paper bark is one of my favourite trees. Fabulous pic by Rod. Also love what you have done with the Silkworm Thread. What a fabulous project to be working on!! You make magic happen! oxox
I really like how it’s about revealing the beauty of Susan’s spirit through her body of work and that it’s a digital file made “real” deepening my experience with books and the craft of binding and spirit in the process
And I LOVE the paper bark border too. ox
I’ve gathered lots more of that bark, it’s in the freezer hopefully euthanizing the bugs that nestle between the layers, I used it for our xmas card back in 2005 and for the cover of the paperbark book in 2004
Absolutely magical, Mo, every page is an adventure. Gorgeous!
Thanks Carol, I like how the process is an honouring of the traditional craft of bookbinding
