the Virgo Moon is finished for now for the River of Moons
the other side
now onto the Libra Moon’s balancing act
it needs boar bristles and beads to make a compass for this journey
stitched in, the boar bristles define the rays & they feel like bone stays in a foundation garment…
PS just added a bit more stitching in that wonky lower centre ray now I can move onto the Libra moon!
PPS added a ring of raw cotton bound with blue silk thread to finish the Virgo Moon for the River of Moons
the 13 moons for this year long project are shibori indigo dyed by the queen of Moon Makers Glennis Dolce
the river cloth is indigo dyed by Ulrike Bogdan

More of your amazing stars!
(((Dee))) I love making those parchment stars!
great series! was just making some new moons today. love the combination of indigo mates here.
(((Glennis))) your moons are so beautiful just as they are I worry about my stitching messing with their integrity!
Wow! I really like how the flow inside of the moon, flows into the long cloth…not identical due to stitching, but a conversation. This is beautiful Mo! Also, it is fun to see your worktable full of goodness!
(((Nancy))) it will be interesting to see how the work changes through the year
Love it .. your always amazing little stars. I am a very proud owner of one of those. Looking forward to following along on this year long artistic journey.
(((Tina))) am not sure what it is, it feels like a scroll at this stage but it could be an accordion book or it may even turn into a waterfall!
Beauty is your middle name.
(((Michelle))) there’s always the ugly phase but I hold these good words of Jude’s close to my heart whenever it appears, “the ugly phase is just an in-between we can’t quite understand yet.” & there’s sure to be a few in a year!
This Virgo moon with its depth, its movement via the wavy indigo surface lines, vibrates with intention, joy and anticipation. The illumination of the stars, the orbiting stitches, all signify a way- finding path headed toward home, your Blue Mountains home. Moons, indigo river, as you said, this can be many things- a scroll, an accordion book, a waterfall but to me, this special project , marking time, is your hearts map leading to your next home…
(((Marti))) it’s such a journey, as the Moon moved into Libra’s balancing act I realize it needs 13 boar bristles stitched into it’s rays, they need to radiate clearly like a compass for the heart.
PS just added a quick photo before I start stitching those bristles down
In 2003 I moved to America for 6 months to live with my daughter. While I was there I started a project based on angels and their star signs. The project was going to take 12 months to complete – one angel for each month of the year. But when I returned to Australia life got in the way and I never completed to project. It just sat on the back burner for years until I saw your Moon project Posts. You have inspired me to start again Mo. I think I will base my Pisces angel on my memories of you.
(((Lana))) I look forward to seeing your Star Angels when we meet again in real life, we will retire in March next year, when we will move to the Blue Mountains and then start doing a bit of traveling & catching up with old friends!
I look forward to that and you never know I may end up travelling to the blue mountains to see you❤️
I feel like we are standing at the source of a river, ready to follow its flow through the year to the sea. So fluid…so much in motion…so beautiful.
(((Dana))) I love diving into a long project!
Simply Magical!
(((Angie))) x fingers, we need all the magic we can muster in this strange year!
Love this!
(((Louise))) you are such an inspiration with your stitching and journaling of the seasons!
Basking in the glow of this beauty!
(((Hazel))) in this strangest year ever stitching a river of moons is helping me stay almost sane!
Your art never stops to strike me with…..wow
(((Yvette))) thanks for your kind words & enthusiasm!
