we saw the inspiring Brett Whiteley: drawing is everything at the Art Gallery of NSW on Wednesday
Here’s Brett’s (1939-1992) advice to the aspiring artist –
“aim at virtually whatever is in front of you…
and then one day you’ll see something that you have truly never seen before
and that is the beginning of yourself
& that heralds the beginning of difficult pleasure.”
Difficult Pleasure
NB Difficult pleasure is how Brett described creating art,
“Art is an argument between what a thing looks like and what it means.”

I love his ink drawings! Lucky you to have seen that exhibition.

  2. Just saw this today. The only exhibition we could see before we caught the bus home. Still swooning.

  3. Read the link and realized this was a memorial of sorts. His photograph is poignant and the drawing is admirable, Thanks for posting. I’ll go look up his name to see more. Meanwhile-Did our white light deliver the MISSING TALISMAN Yet? Hope so.ch
