Dana Webb of Raven and Sparrow is making Blue Moon Magic
with the alchemy of dipping indigo over wax, weld and myrobalan & cochineal on her pennant for the dream.
When I sent out the pennants in June last year I didn’t know whether the 60 year old wedding dress satin was silk or rayon, a friend who works in the textile industry confirmed that it is a very good quality satin rayon so it’s a cellulose base for dyeing.
I am fascinated with Dana’s process
these are her tjanting tools for drawing with wax
Dana’s drawing for the dream
here’s a link to all her posts so far about this pennant over at Raven and Sparrow
the circle is strong, deep magic is afoot!

Ancient methods, the alchemy of the color indigo coupled with such heartfelt earth symbols; symbols that are reminders of those long ago times when words were not readily known but symbols translated what was seen, known and felt. What is especially enchanting about Dana’s pennant is the feel of Story. As I recently commented on her blog, “This pennant simply bursts with a joyful presence and gives hope.” and to me deeply epitomizes the strong, felt sense of I Dream of a World Where Love is the Answer.”

Dana’s work is truly very artistic. Mo please tell me, what up and downside of these panels?

    • Mo Crow says:

(((Martine))) the pennants have the point hanging down with the two points at the top tied to a long cord that will reach to the ceiling of the gallery

So here I am … fighting a cold … waiting for sunshine and warm weather … a house covered in dust from a small basement remodel. But if anything could lift my spirits enough for me to write and not just look … I would have to be blind not to react to another pennant that is beyond amazing. The artisans in this circle … impressive and inspiring.
