Mystic City Talismanic Memory Map by Gabrielle Bates
Artist Statement : At a time of significant change within our cities, can weaving together place-based politics, memory and contemporary Witchcraft reframe the way in which we value our homes and urban environments? Mystic City by Gabrielle Bates creatively investigates how magical rituals and objects associated with Witchcraft might challenge the profit-driven processes of gentrification and urban development.

Gabrielle’s powerful magic at Chrissie Cotter Gallery finishes today
our fragile old lady of a house is in grave danger from the proposed 8 lane WestCONnex tunnel going right under our street, we need all the magic we can muster!

  1. The theme is one that’s always on my mind and in my face here in Manhattan across the pond. Oh, Mo–Tunneling under your street. Alarming. Do you have City Councils talking about this?

    • Mo Crow says:

(((Michelle))) the local council and the people are fighting the private contractors going hell for leather with this devastating project

  2. will go to the Raft today and place magic i know there for your Old Woman House

  3. What power I have is yours . . . old ladies need the protection of magic.

    • Mo Crow says:

(((Wendy))) thanks for the good vibes, the good news is our landlady visited on Friday for the annual house inspection & complimented us on how well we are looking after the old girl, so we have somewhere to live for a good while yet if we can just stop this ridiculous tunnel going under us!

  4. deemallon says:

Those bone tree pieces are incredible! Hope they kibosh the project. It would be awful. Energetically structurally. The noise. Ugh. I will add a feather to my amethyst in your behalf.

(Never heard the expression “going hell for leather” before).

  5. coloremartine says:

Doing a ritual tomorrow morning while being on the land, for protection………………

  6. Eliene says:

Gabrielle’s trees moved me on a heart level……I felt my spirits appreciation as I studied each one. Thank you for sharing. Glad the inspection went well; it’s good to know that you are appreciated in taking care of someone’s property. We are in the same position but are not threatened with a tunnel…just many unit developments. Always positive thoughts coming your way.

  7. Nancy says:

Mo~ Such interesting bone life pieces. I will silently sing a heartsong for the health of your Old Lady home, may her bones stand strong.

  8. Hazel says:

Sending thoughts of power & light to you and your beloved home. (Love the bone broom)

  9. Tilly says:
