neon installation by Shi Yong “A Bunch of Happy Fantasies”
based on a poem written by a friend of the artist who was an opium addict,
which ends with the lines:
“I used to believe in love, but now the future is all despair.”

no pigeons are allowed in Tiananmen Square
and the workers who come down from the mountains to the city
are also treated as pests
