xmas-card-15webIt’s the Silly Season, the temperature is soaring & the xmas card is well under way. Each year we send out 150 cards to customers, suppliers, friends and family (you can see the past 23 years of cards here) Settled on the Moab Somerset Museum Rag 300 gsm for printing the photo of Actinotus minor mounted on hand deckled Canson Stonehenge bright white 245 gsm printmakers paper, the red stitches in the corners in the pic on the right were fun but superfluous.
Started very early this morning so all the card backs were ripped to size, hand deckled and printed by lunchtime, here’s some pics in process

  1. Silly season here too Mo . . . there’s a gale blowing in from the Tasman and I just lit the fire! The cards are stunning . . . lucky recipients.

I spy Brugmansia in your oasis! I wonder if I’ll live to see mine flower?
The hand-deckling looks so simple, but I know it can be finger-ouchy after a few dozen, right?

    • Mo Crow says:

Brugmansias need plenty of sun & lots of water to flower, they are understorey plants from the equatorial rainforests in South America, maybe the coastal tropics of Queensland is too hot, ours is wilting in this heat here today and yeah hand deckling is hard work when there’s 150 cards, feel like I’ve had a workout!

  3. margaret johnson says:

Love the magic you weave Mo. The Brugmansia, is that what us lay (ley) people call Angel’s trumpet? Freezing here today, after a couple of days sweltering in the heat!! ox

  4. Michelle says:

Thirty two yesterday, thunderstorms at 2am and drizzle all day today! Melbourne is having silly season too! Ah well, at least it cuts down on the flies. Love the cards, the torn edges are beautiful too.

  5. Carol says:

Cards are looking splendid, Mo! A lot of work but very satisfying. I must get a brugmansia, too, a pink one, but I’m not sure if it will be happy here. I love the silly season too!

  6. Julie Banks says:

Love is the essence of your beautiful cards, Mo. The weather today is such a contrast after the heat of yesterday, we lazed in and around the Woronora River with the kids, only way to stay cool!

  7. They look lovely, especially in the pile of 4’s. The winds in th UK are racing round the house, roaring at us and ruffling the cat the wrong way. We have tops turvy weather here too.

  8. ravenandsparrow says:

Your cards are just wonderful…its fun to see the process. Your productivity is always amazing. Happy springtime. Here it is dark at four thirty.

  9. deemallon says:

gave up sending Christmas cards when the boys were little… and then cookie baking took over… watching your generous, flowing effort makes me want to reconsider
