the good ship “Irrelevance” by Michael Leunig
Michael chatted about art, life & the influence of ducks at Gleebooks to launch his latest book, “The Wayward Leunig”.
He is such a gentle soul, take a squizz at more of his wonderfully wry and whimsical work on his website & the Michael Leunig Appreciation Page

He’s someone on the fantasy list to invite for dinner.
Michael Leunig and John Wolseley are two of the most gentle & inspiring men on the planet and I have been lucky to see them both in real life this month!
Seeing people (and paintings) just adds to the pleasure doesn’t it? I’d say ‘lucky you’ but more and more I’m thinking chance has very little to do with many things we call lucky.
I wrote an essay about the flighty nature of chance back in 2006, here’s a link
Bless him, what a beautiful soul. A voice in the wilderness…
he really is a national treasure
Thanks Mo . . . those times when everything goes as it should and you feel it as much as know it are indeed wonderful. I think we earn them through our loyal commitment to our endeavour . . . what ever the field.
the magical chances are always there even on the longest darkest nights of the soul they shine like rough diamonds in the mine and keep making this life worthwhile
A wonderfully gentle man. We’re lucky to have him.
Leunig helps us see clear
From what i see on his website and understand , it must be a great man! But Mo, don’t underestimate yourself, i think you meeting this 2men is not for nothing and your work contains so much wisdom and creativity. Looking at your cards now, understand that you sent more than 150 handmade cards…..such beauty, such love in your work
( i know it sounds ( forgot the right word) as an emphasize thing but you are really great!
