Binding the Crow Book – Part Two

since my last post the leather on the covers dried enough to trim out, the black Somerset Velvet 245 gsm endpapers were pasted in, the text block edge was wrapped in leather and the first and last page waxed with Dorland’s cold wax medium to protect the page surface stitched with waxed black linen though the covers, then drilled the text block & stitched it in the crow book is bound and it feels amazing! the flaws in the leather turned into crows on the back cover the talisman bookmark relates to The Stole of Bandaged Hearts the red x stitched into the title page was where I got a little too enthusiastic with rubbing in the wax table of contents and info page “Requiem” printed out beautifully on the A3+ double sided Premium Matte 50 pound ( 190gsm) Red River inkjet paper, over the next few weeks I will paint the little dashes of red gouache & go over each page with a magnifying glass for flaws, stray typos and making sure the digital files are all saved at the right size & format. love how “Turn the Page” works with the bookmark Crossroads Hotel the back page with pockets ready for the 4 CDs this is the prototype to take along to Pure Colours Digital Imaging for printing the limited edition in August. We’re doing the happy dance here this morning & Ariel thinks we’re totally mad!
