Zig-Zag aka Acacia merinthophora
lichen
this lichen enjoyed the rain last night
a new home for the orchids made with the lichen covered sticks from the flower markets
and the Tillandsia in the snail shell
Acacia merinthopora stitched into the last page of the Out of the Blue Book
reverse of stitched Acacia above then sketched in 5H graphite
love how the sharp graphite marks the gessoed surface
the Out of the Blue book is full now
You can see more pages here, here and here

I love the lace and the lichen . . . it’s growing on the capping rail on my fence and I know for the sake of the fence I should remove it but somehow . . . it’s a triumph of aesthetics over pragmatism.
lichens and mosses are always welcome here too!
inspiring images.
the lichen sticks are so much happier outside enjoying the rain and air, looking forward to seeing if the bits I stitched into the flax cord grow!
Your lacy plant life segues so beautifully into your book pages. That book is wonderful. I would like to hold it in my hands.
thanks Dana, I was quite disappointed when Out of the Blue and The Spirit Book of the Spirit Books didn’t get selected for the Manly Artists Book Awards this year….!…?….I mean wtf? to be polite… I won’t bother again, they knocked back An illuminated Book of Cats in 2011 too!
Yep, give them a miss! Really makes me wonder about who decides, and how. I agree, wtf?
However, Out of the Blue is looking just fabulous, and I do hope I manage to get into town soon to visit you and your treasures. ((((Mo))))
thanks Carol, look forward to catching up in the not too far away!
Oh Mo, nature is such an inspiration !
Lichen look so spectacular close up
lichens are so tough and yet so sensitive to the quality of air and water
Yay! I was wondering when we would see the Blue Book again.
(((Liz))) I just looked through the amazing lichen & onion dyed 60 count hand weaving & vintage cloths that you sent back at xmas, I have another week off before the crow book comes back from the editing, this is the time to do something with them with all the lichen inspiration!
All scrumptious Mo, love lichen too. Good to look back on your beautiful blue book. Marg ox
Thanks Marg, am loving exploring the colours and forms here’s a link to a fantastic watercolour of lichen by Susannah Blaxill
the book….i could feel my whole self absorbing the images when looking…thank you
for the back links…
Books are my life long passion, the space between the covers provides a quiet place of retreat, a private world to explore, a gallery I can hold in my hands and carry with me, full of wonder, fresh perspectives & inspiration.
