Candlelight-with-a-dot-of-red-Mo-15detail of ‘Candlelight’ printed out as the first double page spread (12″ x 24″) for The illustrated lyrics of Old Man Crow added a tiny dot of Winsor & Newton Series 1 Flame Red gouache with a ‘ooo’ W&N Series 7 sable
& have started editing the next song “Fly Away”

  1. Carol says:

The light is stunning coming from the candle! The touch of red is perfect!

  2. Dana says:

The details of the candle flame are exquisite. Will every drawing have a touch of red?

    • Mo Crow says:

yes but only on the printouts as I want to keep the printing costs down by printing in Black & White + the true red in the gouache is much more beautiful than what comes out of a printer. Am building the prototype over the next 9 months to present to the local commercial printer then when the 100 books come back they will be handcoloured with a dash of red on each of the 38 songs

  3. Heather says:

Oh, don’t you love gouache? And tiny brushes? Your book idea is brilliant – each one a unique work of art.

  4. deemallon says:

Ah. Perfection in the hand applied tiny detail. Love it.
