ceiling-water-damage August 14I came home to a very wet & rainy Sydney last week & yikes!
the ceiling finally gave way in the corner above my workbench
ceiling-damage August 14sent these photos to the real estate agent and a handyman will come out soon to quote on repairs but there is no easy fix…  there is rising and falling damp in that corner of the house. I hired a big ladder back in January to seal up the worst of the cracks in the outside wall and this has helped a bit with the indoor waterfall effect but our days here are numbered… our beautiful old lady of a house is in need of a cashed up new owner to renovate & bring her back to her full glory.
… I really don’t want to move just yet so x fingers we can eeek out the time here for two more years til September 2016 and the launch of “The illustrated Lyrics of Old Man Crow”!!!!
the good news is the sun came out yesterday and the world feels ever so much brighter, feeling like I can settle back to the drawing board and finish “Wild Things”

Oh dear….what a dampener after your fabulous family holiday.I hope you can find someone to do something…

  2. i think it’s a good thing that it happened on your return. If before, there would have been
worry on the trip. How beautiful, the pics of your family, your time there.
I will put a little note on the altar here for the well being of Old House…for Time …xoxoxo

oh what a home coming – always a bit hard to settle after a holiday – now they say we have rain all this week too. good luck

  4. Carol says:

Crikey, Mo, what a disaster! X fingers the predicted rain this week will be very mild. I do hope you can stay in your house for a few more years, so sad to leave a place you love. (((Mo & Rod)))

  5. Dana says:

“Wild Things” is shaping up nicely, but the ceiling…oh dear, oh dear. You have lived in your house for quite a while now, the prospect of moving can’t be a pleasant one. We’ll hope for a good patch job.

    • Mo Crow says:

Oh Dana, x fingers the handyman the real estate sends out is a miracle worker & the good news is with the New Moon in Virgo the Wild Things drawing is moving along, nothing like a good big sprawling project to keep the monkey mind happily focused!

  6. Patricia says:

if walls could talk, i’m wondering what her take on this would be. just look at that lath. it’s probably going to take more than a bunch of rain to bring her down. and…really sorry it’s over your work area.

    • Mo Crow says:

Yay! the handyman just had a look and reckons the roof, the flashing, the barge boards & gutter all need attention in that wet corner. The rain is saturating the walls internally rather than running off into the gutter. So if the landlady is amenable once the wall drys out & the roofers can get up there the problem may even be resolved! all we need is a nice long dry spell for awhile so the work can get started!

  7. Valerianna says:

Here’s hoping things can be fixed up for a while!! Good luck!
