thanks for the good words on this loooong cold night Els!
wow … love it all ( : you are inspirational !
Hi Kathy, your crow eyes make the magic!
Warmth of the light for you Mo and Old Man Crow as you enjoy Winter Solstice. Here in the US it is the Summer Solstice. Your talisman is strong and I am moved by how so many of us need to signify by our making of something to mark the seasons. Last night I draped a wet silk cloth dyed yellow in my copper pot from onion skins on the branch of one of our pear trees at dusk. I wanted the New Mexican night wind to dry it so that it would be ready to greet the Solstice sun rise. Talismans, wind flying yellow cloths connecting and greeting our respective seasons, quiet joy to behold…
thanks for sharing the warm bright light of your longest day Marti, the sun is just coming up here now !
Mo…how good it Feels to see the Cloth

it is the Best i can imagine…and to see the talisman there, the Strong and BeautyFull Crow

Actually touched my computer screen trying to connect to this amazing feather. Full blown summer solstice here on the other side of the world. I like thinking of you on the other end of this teeter-totter of season.
Hi Beth, it’s a bipolar world hehe!
implicit power. would love the story of each component. maybe you’ve already shared it. so i’m imagining what it is.
The feather fit perfectly into that crow eye bead the day the beads arrived from Kathy Dorfer. There was a bit of damage on the left hand side of the feather that looked like a lighting bolt so I painted it and limned the edge in white, the five dots on the shaft are for the five elements – Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Ether. The passionfruit vine tendril fit at the other end, the charcoal silk/steel from Dairing matched the colour of the feather perfectly the white silk steel stabilised and integrated the whole thing for the Solstice!
What a wondrous response to the winter solstice….it is so evocative of the inner fire contained in the deepest dark, and of the insights (eye) that can be found there.
Wow well said Dana, you are a wonderful wordsmith!
