Congratulations and so well done Mo! It looks magical and beautiful and the cover is just right and all of the pages are luscious and mysterious. What a journey!
thanks Bronwyn you’ve seen it in process right from the start! Love that the front cover which ended up on the back by serendipitous accident looks just fine unembellished!
What a wonderful tribute to Susan & her works Mo. I just love how you bring everything to life in your art. I can completely understand why this one is a ‘keeper’ but I do look forward to the time when I can actually hold it in my hands so I can not only see it but feel it. Well done !!!
looking forward to seeing it in this year’s Australian Bookbinders Exhibition at the Research Library of the AGNSW, the deadline for entries is early October so I finished it with a month to spare!
Mo–i just journeyed through this process from week 11 to week 1 and must tell you that i’m enchanted and amazed with what you’ve created here. the beads. and the embossed pages and bindings. it looks like Merlin magic to me. i know nothing about this process but just read Susan’s blog and now understand this undertaking a bit more. it’s truly lovely. amazing actually. such an essence to it.
I learned so much about Susan’s process by responding to each of the images of her spirit books but I would love to see her books & do a workshop with her in real life!
Im SO GLAD I saw this before shutting down for my trip to Massachusetts tomorrow (no internet). I return on the 13th…meanwhile, dripping with admiration,,,to see a thing through to it’s exquisite end is major, and this ‘thing’ is a masterpiece Mo
thanks for the good words Michelle have a great time out in the country enjoying the beginning of autumn as we move into spring!
oh just magnificent. i so enjoyed following your process with all the details. nice that so many people will see it in person at the exhibit.
Thanks for the encouragement Deanna! Will be interesting to see how it looks amongst the fine bindings!
Gorgeous Mo, and it’s been great, watching your progress. Would be lovely to feel AND smell, with those beautiful myrrh beads being part of your creation. Is the book heavy or lightweight? Congratulations Mo, on finishing yet another masterpiece. ox
It’s surprisingly light & those myrrh beads Margaret! I must send you some as soon as I get back from Bellingen they are heavenly!
Just beautiful and what a wonderful journey it has been. I am thinking of ordering the myrrh beads but can’t find a supplier in the uk.
I couldn’t find the myrrh beads here in Australia so I ordered them from The Bead Chest a friendly and reliable company dealing in African beads based in California.
Wow.. this is really extraordinary. I’m absolutely thrilled with the textures… I imagine this is the most wonderful book to hold. I didn’t see this before, but on completion, I’m loving how Susan’s sculptural books are taken back a step to be a more traditional book form with your book. I’m not sure why I didn’t really get this before, but as I look at the finished piece, it is so clear and wonderful. Its quite magical and ancient feeling.
Thanks for the good words V, I do love a book to work as a book!
i am going to really send energy for that workshop you WILL do with Susan. i can see
it happening right now……
the Book is Alive….
I am really hoping Susan will make a trip out here to Australia one day!
Dream BIG, Mo … oftentimes our wildest imaginings will come right to our door.
This book goes beyond words for me. What a tremendously beautiful accomplishment.
Thank you Christi!
Mo, oh, well done! You have made a most beautiful and miraculous book, showcasing Susan’s books in the very best way. What an achievement, you have magic in your fingertips and in your heart.
it was a good journey!
Big sigh of admiration. What an amazing book, Mo! Loving the spirals!
Hi Robyn those spirals are made with a beautiful handmade paper from Thailand!
I agree with Michelle, Mo–a masterpiece. Marvelous textures and designs that you’ve worked into it.
Thanks for the good words Nadia!
