looks like a place where magic happens.

Love how the rhythms of the tree are echoed by the ravens and the clouds… cool piece!

  3. margaret johnson says:

G’day Mo, exciting piece, this one. Love the stance on the losing Crow, and love the eggs as pawns. The whole scene reminds me of the daily goings on, in and around our ancient pine tree, at the top of our block. Could you explain the exploding Rook in the background? Fantastic seeing all these crows in the one picture. I can just imagine the noise. Cheers Marg, ox

    • Mo Crow says:

Hi Marg, you’ll have to send me a photo of your pine tree!
The exploding black rook in the background belongs to the losing black crow king & is collapsing at the same time as the black king’s ground is crumbling beneath his feet as he loses his crown by being trapped behind his 3 black pawn eggs when the white rook moved in. It s a classic checkmate that I found online here, it’s figure 2 inverted.

  4. margaret johnson says:

Hey, thanks Mo. I knew it was a checkmate, but didn’t connect the crumbling groud with the Rook. Duh! Anyway I love the picture, The chess board makes a great centre piece. Will send you a pic of our tree. ox
