If you’re in Melbourne next week, “The Intelligence of the Heart” is an exhibition of new works by Bronwyn Berman using various papers, bees wax, pokerwork, and gold leaf, with a few other ingredients such as echidna quills, glass beads and lyrebird feathers.
It’s an exploration of the geometry of the hexagon and the underlying construction of the shape – using overlapping circles – a pattern sometimes known as ‘the Flower of Life’. The ‘Flower of Life’ is said to contain the foundations of all of the Platonic Solids and has been used by many cultures in their decorative motifs and religious symbols throughout history.
